Education

Alison qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from the Queens College in Glasgow in 1980 and following further study became a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in 1984. She is a fully qualified APPI Pilates instructor having completed her training in 2004. She has completed many post graduate courses in the management of muscle and joint problems as well as in the management of persistent pain.

Career

Alison started her career working in major teaching hospitals in Edinburgh and Aberdeen and specialised in the treatment of muscle and joint problems.  In 1999 she set up a physiotherapy clinic in Aberdeenshire and working alongside her business partner the business grew into the large multidisciplinary clinic it is today. Having sold her share of the business Alison moved back to Edinburgh in May 2019. Alison’s particular areas of interest lie in the management of longstanding back and neck pain and sporting or soft tissue injuries. She has worked with athletes ranging from those who enjoy a gentle jog through to those competing at Olympic level. Alison is a firm believer in evidence based practice and the importance of rehabilitation in helping people overcome their injuries and conditions. She uses both a hands on approach and client centred exercise programmes to achieve this.
